Apple plans to compensate users for not including a charger in the iPhone box. Since the iPhone 12 series, Apple has stopped including a charging cable and wired headphones in the box. The charging head has been removed from the iPad, Apple Watch, and other Apple devices. The iPhone does not come with a conventional charger in certain areas, and Apple claims that it is doing so to protect the environment. Apple does, however, sell standalone charging heads, so this isn’t totally for the environment.

A judge has ordered a Brazilian customer who recently purchased an iPhone to receive compensation from Apple because the company marketed the item without putting a charger in the box, which was against local consumer rules.

“Bundling” is abusive and illegal behaviour in Brazil, according to Article 39 of the Brazilian Consumer Code (CDC). As a result, selling mobile phones and chargers separately is banned. As a result, Apple lost the case after selling separate iPhone models and chargers to a customer in Goiania. Apple must pay consumers 5,000 reais ($1,082) for the “bundling” of the company’s gadgets, according to a ruling by Judge Vanderlei Caires Pinheiro of Goiania’s Sixth Civil Court.

In other words, the judge considers the iPhone without a charging cable to be an unnoticed bundle sale. This is because a smartphone is useless if it is not charged, and apple is forcing additional costs on users by requiring them to purchase the original charging head.

Apple was fined $2 million by Brazil last year for breaking consumer regulations and disrespecting Brazilian customers. According to the consumer protection agency, Apple broke Brazilian consumer protection regulations by not including a charger in the device’s package. According to Apple, many customers already have chargers in their homes, which, combined with the environmental benefits of removing them, considerably reduces the footprint of the entire iPhone package.

Apple emphasized that this decision is for environmental reasons, citing a survey that indicates consumers frequently have charging heads accessible. However, this strategy has received a lot of backlashes. After all, consumers will undoubtedly require charging heads. Furthermore, there are questions that Apple’s true goal is to save money, possibly billions of dollars.
