Of recent Xiaomi has been competing with top phone companies in the mid-ranged devices and now they have launched another Android smartphone Xiaomi Hongmi (Red Rice) smartphone, the device have making the rounds in some countries as some have comparing the device with other smartphones.
Announced in Available August 2013
Design
Below the screen are three capacitive buttons with red icons (hence the name “red rice”). The design feels pretty standard, it’s your usual rectangular smartphone with slightly curved corners, though, The 4.7-inch IPS display sports a 1280 x 720-pixel resolution, which means you won’t have to worry about fuzzy fonts when browsing the Web. It does look plasticy and cranky, but that’s only until you take it to your hand. This is one of the heaviest devices in its range and that extra weight is responsible for the solid feel in the hand.
Performance
The Xiaomi Hongmi (Red Rice) has a Corning Gorilla Glass 2-protected 4.7-inch 720p HD screen, MediaTek’s MT6589T quad-core chip clocked at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM, and rocks just 4GB of internal storage though it allows upgrade with microSD cards up to 32GB. There’s also a 2,000 mAh battery capacity, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and a usual set of sensors, The device also has two SIM card slots, one of which can be used for connecting to HSPA networks, whereas the other one is GSM-only.
Camera
In the price range at which you can find the device, you won’t find that awesomeness in terms of camera but it has an 8-megapixel sensor and 1.3-megapixel one on the front. Moreover, there’s also a pretty solid camera features included allowing such options as panorama and HDR photography. Asking for more features like auto-focus, would be that we are demanding too much compared to the price.
Verdict
The Xiaomi Hongmi (Red Rice) lacks 4G connectivity and for gamers i don’t think you will like this as it lacks a good MediaTek’s chip which it doesn’t provide enough power for the 3D gaming performance, The Camera was not what we all expected it would have been better to make it awesome. But i still thing the device is good compared to the price it comes for, So if you are in search of a low priced Android device with some decent specs look no further.
