The number of smartphones industries that are joining the gaming brand is increasing day by day. There are most smartphone makers that are well-known for their contributions in the smartphone gaming sector. This article contains an in-depth review of the ZTE Nubia Red Magic Mars, ascertaining its pros and cons. Here you would also find info on specs and price
While most of them are the trendsetters, some are just mere followers just like the Red Magic Mars. Don’t get it all wrong, the Red Magic Mars is a nice gaming smartphone, though its gamer-heavy design is what holds it back.
The ZTE Nubia Red Magic Mars was announced and released on November 2018. The question that I can still figure out is why most people will want to go for a ‘gaming phone’than the normal smartphone. Most of the times, they usually come in with the same specifications and features that the normal smartphone comes in with.
Now the question is what exactly are there in a ‘gaming phone’ that makes it different from the ordinary smartphone? Without wasting much of your time, come on with me let’s see all the specifications and features the ZTE Nubia Red Magic Mars comes in with and maybe you could answer the question yourself.
Design
The Nubia Red Magic Mars seems to be a combination of those Doritos Xbox One and the cheap Chinese RGB mechanical keyboard adverts like the one you’ve ever seen. The Nubia Red Magic Mars comes with features that make it clear the device is a gaming smartphone.
When you turn to the back of the smartphone, you will find the small fingerprint sensor. You will also find the angle shape pyramid design with red fins and a long RGB LED that leads to small hexagonal. The red fins at the back of this device match with the metallic red accent on the sole camera.
There is a dedicated capacitive shoulder button on the edges which can be mapped to in-game actions. If you have used the OnePlus smartphones, you should know about their notification toggle, it is the same the Nubia Red Magic Mars comes in with though they do not serve the same purpose. The one on the Nubia Red Magic Mars is more like a gaming toggle which launches you to a dashboard that contains all your installed games and you can immediately choose the one that you want to play.
The Nubia Red Magic Mars also comes with a 3.5mm jack. On the front side of this smartphone, you will find the 6.0 inches LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and an 18:9 ratio (~402 PPi density).
Camera
Though the cameras on the Nubia Red Magic Mars is obviously not the selling point of this smartphone, it still offers images that are far more impressive than expected.
The smartphone comes in with a total number of two cameras which I earlier mentioned are not the selling point of the device though they offer clear and impressive images. The front camera which is used for taking selfies with just yourself or with friends is an 8 MegaPixel sensor which has an f/2.0 aperture.
On the back of the smartphone, you will see the 16 MegaPixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The camera is capable of taking a 4K recording at up to 30fps and it does not come with any stabilization that I can discern. It is usable though not completely great.
Performance
When it comes to performance, the Nubia Red Magic Mars comes in with high-end specifications that ensure that the performance of this smartphone does not experience any lag and shuttering.
Under the hood, the Nubia Red Magic Mars runs on the latest Operating System, the Android 9.0 (Pie); which also comes with the nubia Red Magic UI inside the box. We also have the Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 (10 nm) chipset and which will ensure the smartphone flies and respond very fast to all the commands that you issue out.
One of the things that many users of this smartphone may not find interesting is the inability to expand the storage of the smartphone. Nevertheless, the smartphone comes in different storage options which consist of the 256 GB storage option with a 10 GB RAM, the 128 GB storage option with an 8 GB RAM and finally there is the 64 GB storage option with a 6 GB RAM.
Battery
One of the coolest specifications that I have been able to see so far in the Nubia Red Magic Mars is its battery. The smartphone comes in with a Non-removable Li-Po 3,800mAh battery and it is capable of confidently taking you through the day even with heavy use.
Nevertheless, with heavy gaming usage, the smartphone may not be able to possibly take you through the day. When you use the smartphone normally, it is capable of lasting you for more than a day without experiencing any lag.
Other Features
- FM ~ No,
- 3.5mm Jack ~ Yes,
- Expandable storage ~ No,
- Triple Rear Cameras ~ No.
ZTE Nubia Red Magic Mars Price
Verdict
The ZTE Nubia Red Magic Mars is a nice gaming smartphone which comes in with impressive features and designs, though the gaming design was overrated than the actual offer.
My major problem with the ZTE Nubia Red Magic Mars is that, just like some other gaming smartphones, they also offer things that are not so different from the OnePlus line or other flagship except for the price tag. But, until I am able to get a more GPUs and dedicated chipsets for mobile gaming, then I don’t think buying any of this smartphone is really a smart investment. But it is a good thing the ZTE Nubia Red Magic Mars comes in with a low price tag.
