It’s been quite a while now and known to most Twitter users that they have been publicly testing beta features one of which is the mute option. It has been reported today by most Android and iOS Twitter app users that the feature has been officially rolled out. Though I haven’t noticed this feature on my app. 🙁 .
The whole concept is simply to disable notifications from people whom you do not want to see their updates any longer.
In the case of the mute feature, Twitter deemed its functionality useful enough to include it in the general release and announced the addition via blog post earlier today.
It’s available to people that use the Twitter app for Android and iOS and well as on twitter.com, effectively allowing you to silence tweets from people that you’d like to hear from less. As the post outlines, muting a user means their tweets and retweets will no longer be visible in your timeline and you will no longer receive push or SMS notifications from said user.
If you still haven’t gotten this feature, don’t worry as Twitter will be rolling the feature out to everyone over the coming weeks.
