Xiaomi, one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in Asia ain’t taking any chances this year and they’ve been keeping up lately in the tech headlines for the past week. The company has just announced its intention to launch the Xiaomi Mi 5 in February this year. The new smartphone from Xiaomi will pack in the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset which will make gaming on the phone an awesome experience. 🙂
Xiaomi’s co-founder and senior VP Liwan Jiang took to Weibo to confirm that the Mi5 will indeed come with Snapdragon 820 and has entered mass production as well. He also stated that the company will launch the Mi5 after the Chinese New Year which begins on the 8th of February.
For the design, leaked images suggests that the Xiaomi Mi 5 front has a 2.5 D glass while the back is similar to what we have on the Mi Note. There seems to be no capacitive touch keys at the bottom, but just a slim capsule-like, fingerprint reader that also appears to be a home button.
Leaked specs have also shown that the new Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2 Quad HD display (2560 x 1440 pixels) sporting a pixel density of 515 ppi. Furthermore , the smartphone will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM.
