At one point or the other you must have found yourself in search of alternatives to various program utilities and that’s what exactly got me into writing this article today. One of such reasons that gets us into this is when we do not have that extra few bucks to spend on a software, but don’t worry, I’ll give you the best free alternatives for the Microsoft Office Suite you cannot purchase for now.
One thing I can assure you is that none these free Microsoft Office alternatives i’m about to show to you are cloud based like the Google Docs which is a Browser Based App that can be used to edit and create Docs online, they would all work on the local disk of your personal computers.
Free Alternatives To MS Office
1. Libre Office
This is my favorite whenever i’m thinking of an alternative Suite for the Microsoft suite on my PC. It offers just like MS Offfice a word processor, a spreadsheet, a presentation application, a drawing tool and a database application. One of the reasons I love the Libre Office is simply because it open most of the Microsoft Office Suite formats and you won’t find hitches in them. This is my best alternative if I think of a cloudless based alternative for the popular Microsft Office Suite
Here is what the Libre Office suite interface looks like.
2. KingSoft Office Suite Free 2012
Yet another Cloudless based alternative to the Microsoft Office PC package which includes a word processor, a spreadsheet, and a presentation application. One great feature of this package is that it supports all of the native Microsoft Extension formats and more so it’s on native extension. Some other extensions such as the Hyper-Text Markup Language (HTML) are also supported by this free suite. Other extensions include RTF, TXT etc.
The Presentation interface looks more like that of MS PowerPoint as can be clearly seen from the image below
One thing I always would stick to is the Microsoft Office Suite, and that is probably because i’m so used to this suite, but if you can not afford it’s license for the main time, then the above listed alternatives can be you next resort as they perform similar and wonderful functions as well.
I hope you find this list post helpful.
