4. Mudbound
This movie is based on the novel by Hillary Jordan, it concentrates on 2 World War II veterans that come back home. Jamie McAllan (Garrett Hedlund) was an Army pilot who flew the B-25 Mitchell bomber and suffers from PTSD while Ronsel Jackson (Jason Mitchell) commanded a Sherman tank in the Army’s infantry and is now a defiant being. However, McAllan’s family own a farm outside Marietta, Mississippi, where Jackson’s family works. Jackson’s father takes care of the cotton fields, while mom is Jamie’s housekeeper. Both veterans became buddies but racism still exist in Jamie McAllan’s family.
5. Platoon
Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) drops out of college to be a part of a battle in Vietnam during 1967. He is stunned by the promise of heroism but was confronted with war upon arrival. Chris immediately found out that the battle is vicious and brutal in the jungles and inside his platoon. He battles to curb his fear and feelings of isolation sparked by his more experienced army comrades. It details everything about Chris’ journey from being a young college dropout to a veteran who found himself in the middle of 2 battles.
