Direct X is a set of API’s developed by Microsoft to help game developers to make games that are supported by many computers. With direct x installed on a computer, the computer will have the ability to play games not originally developed with that computer.
In the previous version of windows operating system, Direct X had to be installed separately. But recently, Microsoft has been dishing windows operating systems with direct X installed, for easier reach. Windows 10 operating system is the latest from Microsoft, isn’t exempted. Although Windows 10 comes with direct X Pre-installed, you might want to download another version of direct X, either a higher version or a lower version, depending on your need. Note that the recommended Direct X version for windows 10, is the direct X 12. Any version lower than the Direct X 12 will work on windows 10, but Direct X 12 won’t work on lower operating systems. The next version of Direct X might come pre-installed on the new windows operating system to come and may not be supported on Windows 10.

- Navigate to Microsoft’s official website
2. Navigate to the download page
3. Click the download button
4. Install direct X by following screen prompts
5. Restart your computer
6. Your newly download direct x will start working
You can also install a higher update of direct x via system update on windows 10. Let say Microsoft releases Direct x 12.1, all you need to install this new version will be to install updates from settings. To install such updates, you will need to navigate to settings and the system updates. After your computer has scanned for updates, you can then proceed to install the update containing the latest Direct X version.
