I’ve written several articles related to various internet plans on this blog, and not until yesterday when one of our avid readers brought it to my attention that he needed to know how to configure his SIM for  internet connections, then I realized I had to make this post.

In this little handy post, I’ll give you the manual configuration internet settings for Nigeria’s major mobile internet service providers, namely; MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat. Configuring your smartphone, PC or modem isn’t rocket science. All you need to know is the basic terms, and then you can configure any device.

manual internet configurations for nigerian networks

Firstly, take note of the following terms and acronyms.

  • APN: It’s the Access Point your internet service provider uses in making internet calls i.e to send and receive signals.

As at time of post, the IP, Port, Username, Password and Homepage play no major role in the manual configuration for internet settings in Nigeria. You might still want to know the default configurations for this networks as I’ll provide them below.

MTN Manual Configuration Settings

Here is what you need to configure your MTN SIMs on your android device, modem or smartphone device.

Username: web
Password: web
Access Point or APN: web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
IP or Proxy Address: 010.199.212.002

Homepage: http://wap.gloworld.com

Port: 8080

AIRTEL Manual Configuration Settings

Here is how to configure your Airtel device for internet access.

Account Name: AIRTEL
Homepage: http://wap.ng.airtel.com
Username: Internet
Password: Internet
Access Point or APN: internet.ng.zain.com or internet.ng.airtel.com
IP or Proxy Address: 172.018.254.005
Port: 8080

ETISALAT Manual ConfigURAtion Settings

Another great network, here is how to configure the internet settings manually

Account Name: ETISALAT
Homepage: http://www.etisalat.com.ng OR http://mobile.etisalat.com.ng
Username: wap
Password: wap
Access Point or APN: etisalat

Port: 8080

If you encounter any issues while configuring your smartphones, modems, PC for internet connection using any of the above manual settings, feel free to let me know using the comment box below. I’ll be glad being of help. Cheers!

what is the benefit or the use of this manual configuration of the internet setting?

    Reply
    • Oscar Frank on April 20, 2015 3:09 am

The manual configuration is used when you wish to access the internet using a smartphone with any of the lines and do not know how to go about making a valid configuration on the device in order to access the internet. I hope you do get the essence of this post Rollins. BTW, thanks for dropping by.
