Port Harcourt Postal Code in Nigeria, From D-Line to Choba
D-Line is 500261, Old GRA 500241, New GRA 500271. Rumuola, Choba and most of Obio/Akpor share 500102. The head post office is 500001.
The line that matters in Port Harcourt is the boundary between its two local governments. Inside Port Harcourt City, each district has its own number. Cross into Obio/Akpor and one code, 500102, covers almost everything from Rumuola to Choba.
Those are six-digit area codes, the kind a form asks for. Buildings in Rivers are also getting an 11-character NIPOST postcode starting RI, which you can look up at NIPOST’s finder. It is a separate thing and will not fit a six-digit box.

| Diobu, Mile 1 | 500262 |
| Diobu, Mile 2 | 500263 |
| Diobu, Mile 3 | 500264 |
| New GRA | 500271 |
| Abuloma, Amadi-Ama, Elekahia, Oroworukwo and Rainbow Town | 500101 |
Obio/Akpor and Trans Amadi
500102 is the code for Rumuola, Rumuokoro, Rumuigbo, Rumuodara, Rumuomasi, Eliozu, Elelenwo, Elimgbu, Woji, Oginigba, Choba, Alakahia, Iwofe, Ogbogoro and Ozuoba, among others. Rumuokwuta is the exception nearby, listed at 500272.
The fourth digit, 1, is NIPOST’s mark for a rural delivery area. Nobody on Rumuola Road would call it rural, but the code stands.
Trans Amadi is where you will see the most disagreement. Addresses there get printed with 500101, 500102 and 500221. We would use 500102: NIPOST’s Post Office Finder places the Trans Amadi office in Obio/Akpor, and that is the local government’s code.
Post offices have their own codes
A P.O. Box or PMB takes the code of the post office holding it, not the one for your home. In these, the fourth digit is 0.
| Post office | Address | Code |
|---|---|---|
| Port Harcourt head office | 10 Station Road | 500001 |

The lists also give 500004 for the University of Port Harcourt’s post office and 500008 for the one at the old Unitech, now Rivers State University.

All of these go back to NIPOST’s earlier online lookup, which is now offline: the outer towns through Wikipedia’s Rivers State list, which cites it by name, and the city districts through Nigeria Postcodes, matched against a second source. NIPOST’s map above agrees on the first three digits for every local government in these tables. Any post office in the finder can confirm one, or write to [email protected].
