Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026
This policy explains what information oscarmini.com collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. Oscarmini is run by Oscarmini Ltd. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected].
The short version
- You can read this site without giving us your name or email address.
- We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read, and Google AdSense to show ads. Both use cookies.
- If you comment, subscribe or send a message, we keep what you give us so that we can publish your comment, send you the newsletter or reply.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
When you visit
Like most websites, our servers and the network that delivers the site (Cloudflare) record technical details of each request: your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. This is used to keep the site secure and working. Some images are delivered through Amazon Web Services, which receives the same kind of technical details when your browser loads them.
We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are, and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell visits apart. We see totals and trends, not who you are.
When you comment
We store the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, your IP address and your browser type. Your name, website and comment are shown publicly; your email address is not. Comments are checked for spam by Akismet, a service run by Automattic, which receives the comment and those details to do so. If you tick the box to save your details, a cookie remembers them in your browser for your next comment.
When you subscribe to the newsletter
We store your email address, your name if you give it, and the date you subscribed. We also record whether newsletter emails are opened and which links are clicked, so we can tell what is useful. Emails are sent through Amazon Web Services. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect at once.
When you contact us
The contact form sends your name, email address and message to our inbox so that we can reply. The message is not stored on the website.
Preferences kept on your device
If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your own browser. It is not sent to us.
Advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits.
- You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in Google’s Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other companies at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
- Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown to you.
Sponsored content and affiliate links
Some articles are produced in partnership with a brand. These are labelled as sponsored. Some links to products may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Neither changes what we say about a product.
Videos and other embedded content
Articles may include YouTube videos. A video is shown as a still image until you press play; only then does your browser connect to YouTube, which may set its own cookies. Links to other websites are covered by those websites’ own policies.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. On this site they come from:
- Google Analytics, to measure visits.
- Google AdSense and its advertising partners, to choose and measure ads.
- Cloudflare, to protect the site from abuse.
- WordPress, to remember your details for comments if you ask it to.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the companies that help us run the site, and only as far as they need it: Google (analytics and advertising), Cloudflare (delivery and security), Amazon Web Services (email delivery and image storage) and Automattic (spam filtering). We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
How long we keep it
- Comments are kept for as long as the article they belong to is published, unless you ask us to remove them.
- Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Messages sent through the contact form are kept in our inbox for as long as needed to deal with them.
- Analytics data is kept by Google for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act and the data protection laws of the United Kingdom and the European Union, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or limit how we use it. To make a request, email [email protected] from the address concerned and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
