Here comes another smartphone from one of the biggest smartphone manufacturer, Huawei. The name of this smartphone that has been added to the company’s collection is called, Huawei Nova 3i.
Huawei recently launched two competitive priced smartphones that just joined the Nova series and they are the Huawei Nova 3 and Huawei Nova 3i. Both devices are mid-range smartphones, but today, we will be focusing on the more affordableNova 3i.
The Nova 3i will be launched in July 2018 and will be competing with other Mid-range smartphones likes Mi A2 and Moto G6 Plus just a few to mention. So, without wasting much of your time, let’s see what this smartphone has to offer.
Design
The Huawei Nova 3i arrives with a sleek design which gives it that premium look. This device is made of glass and metal and has a similar appearance to that of the Nova 3.
The Huawei Nova 3i has a small notch which gives room for a wider display. This smartphone has an 82.03% screen-to-body ratio. On the front of this device, you will see the dual selfie cameras, the earpiece, and the LED flash.
The back of the Huawei Nova 3i, houses a dual primary camera, a LED flash, a fingerprint sensor, and the company’s logo. At the bottom of this device, you will find the charging port, the loudspeaker, and the 3.5mm jack. The right side of this device holds the power button and the volume rockers.
The Huawei Nova 3i arrives with a huge 6.3-inch 2340x1080p IPS LCD display. This smartphone has a body dimension of 157.6mm for height, 75.2mm for width, 7.6mm for thickness & 169g weight. This smartphone also comes in with nice color varieties,
Camera
When you take a look at the back of the Nova 3i, there is a dual 16MP(f/2.2 Aperture) + 2MP(monochrome sensor) camera. The primary camera enables bokeh-adjusting wide aperture mode, coupled with the AR lens that allows you to apply facial effects. The primary camera sensor also has a phase detection auto-focus (PDAF).
The camera of this device comes with many features like the portrait mode, panorama, pro mode, moving picture, time-lapse, light painting, 3D panorama, and more. This device also comes in with a Pro mode for video, a rare feature on smartphones.
Let’s talk about the selfie camera. The Huawei Nova 3i ships in with a dual selfie camera, 24MP with f/2.0 aperture + 2MP secondary sensor for depth sensing.
Performance
The Huawei Nova 3i is powered by 12nm Kirin 710 chipset by HiSilicon SoC and is assisted by the 4 x Cortex A73 2.2 GHz + 4 x Cortex A53 1.7 GHz processor. The device also came along with the AI game suite coupled with the GPU Turbo technology, that help provides a lag-free and seamless experience when running an intensive game.
This smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo on top of Huawei EMUI 8.2. Huawei Nova 3i comes in three versions, the 4GB RAM with 64GB inbuilt storage, 4GB RAM with 128GB storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and the most exciting part of it is that they can all be expanded up to 256GB via micro SD card slot.
Battery
Unfortunately, the charging speed was a little bit far from what we thought. The Kirin 710, has a 10W charging via micro USB. It takes around 2 hours to charge to give you a full charge, too poor I think.
Other Features
- FM ~ No,
- 3.5mm Jack ~ Yes,
- Expandable storage ~ Yes,
- Colors ~ Black, Pearl White, Iris Purple.
Huawei Nova 3i Price
Huawei Nova 3i comes with a price tag of about $300/€260 which is equivalent to about N105,000 Naira. You can also purchase this device from any authorized Huawei distributor or some online shops like Jumia & Konga.
Verdict
The Nova 3i is really amazing and rightly carries out all the basic things. But there are little foxes that spoil the vine, like the missing fast charging, poor loudspeaker and more.
For those in search of a device with a premium design, capable cameras, and a satisfactory display, the Nova 3i stands a strong chance. But if you are the type who puts performance first, then you need a device such as the Mi A2.
