Yes, we are back again and this time we are going to be taking a look at the new smartphone by the Japan-based electronics manufacturer Panasonic who on October 2018 announced the launch of their new smartphone, P85 NXT which will be available for sales by November 2018. Panasonic’s newest smartphone is going to be the company’s latest offering in the entry-segment of smartphones.
According to Panasonic, the P85 NXT will arrive with Arbo Hub, a proprietary AI-powered digital hub of apps that is suited for user needs. The Panasonic P85 NXT will arrive with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, a LED flash that is both in the front and back camera setup, coupled with a face unlock feature, just to mention a few.
This new device will also arrive with a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon line-up of mobile processors, which is a rarity in Panasonic brand smartphones. Just keep on reading to see more about the selling points of this smartphone.
Design
The Panasonic P85 NXT arrives with a 5.0 inches Capacitive Touchscreen display and has a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. This new device features the IPS LCD (Corning Gorilla Glass) and 2.5D curved glass Corning Gorilla Glass 1 for protection.
The smartphone also has a big notch were the camera, face-unlock sensor, LED flash and host of other sensors are seated. At the right side of this device, you will find a SIM card tray positioned at the upper region and beneath it is seated the power button. Meanwhile, the left-hand side of this device houses only a volume rocker. Looking on top of this smartphone you will find the charging port and our usual 3.5mm jack. This device also comes with a fingerprint sensor that is located at the back side, it also offers software-based Face Unlock
The Standard smartphone connectivity features a 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, FM radio, GPS/ A-GPS, a Micro-USB port with OTG support are all present on the Panasonic P85 NXT. The smartphone also features a Proximity sensor, fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, and accelerometer.
The Panasonic P85 NXT arrives in only three color variety which is the Blue, Gold and the Black.
Camera
The Panasonic P85 NXT features a single 8-megapixel rear camera sensor that is supported by a LED flash, which helps to boosts autofocus feature, and this unlike the dual camera trends that we see in today’s flagship smartphones.
Coming to the front part of this smartphone, you will find a front-facing or selfie camera on this smartphone and it is a five-megapixel fixed-focus shooter that also comes along with a LED flash that is seated close to the front-facing camera.
Performance
It is necessary that you bear it in mind that the Panasonic P85 NXT doesn’t in anyway come close to the Realme C1 when it boils down to performance. The Panasonic P85 NXT ships with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset that is supported by a 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This smartphone accepts an external microSD card of up to 128GB.
This dual-SIM smartphone arrives with the dated Android 7.1 Nougat. Like I said before, the new device comes with ‘Arbo Hub’ which is an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered hub that provides users with access to multiple apps and services on a single platform.
The company integrated P85 with a 1.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC processor. Panasonic usually doesn’t offer smartphones that are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon line-up of mobile processors.
Battery
The Panasonic new device comes equipped with a 4,000mAh battery, which should be able to carry you for a whole day with just a single charge. Though, Panasonic has not made mention whether the battery will support fast charging or not. The battery is also optimized with the “Charging Bank” feature which allows the Panasonic P85 NXT to be a power source to charge other smartphones.
Other Features
- FM ~ Yes,
- 3.5mm Jack ~ Yes,
- Expandable storage ~ Yes,
- Colors ~ Blue, Gold, Black.
Panasonic P85 NXT Price
The company has set the price of the P85 NXT at $155.53 (N56,500). Panasonic made claims that their latest device will be available via offline channels in the country.
The Panasonic has specifically tied up with a network-centric B2B trade platform – Udaan, for the sale of the Panasonic P85 NXT in the Indian market.
Verdict
The Panasonic P85 NXT comes with an all-around feature in an entry-level price tag. The device comes with a huge battery capacity so there absolutely no need for frequent charging. Nevertheless, the only setback that this device has is the average processor it comes with, which I think is not bad for an average user.
