Redmi has finally announced their first smartphone called the Redmi K20 Pro. Redmi earlier this year got their independence, Xiaomi’s sub-brand, and has finally put out their first flagship smartphone. In this article, we explore an in-depth review of the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro
Xiaomi’s Redmi brand has always been known for dishing out amazing smartphones that are way pocket-friendly than its competitors.
The new smartphone was announced in May 2019 and is expected to be available around June 2019. The smartphone was able to arrive with a host of interesting features like its hefty RAM, Snapdragon 855, pop-up selfie camera, and more. But, apart from that what else do we get from the smartphone?
Design
One of the things we love about the Redmi K20 Pro is its design which combines with function, though it may be missing on few things.
The smartphone comes with a body dimension of 156.7 x 74.3 x 8.8 mm and weighs about 191 g. The smartphone features a notch-less display and was able to achieve an 86.1% screen-to-body ratio.
On the back side of the smartphone, you will find a lovely 3D curved gradient glass. Still, at the back, there are triple cameras vertically positioned and under it lies the LED flash which helps in achieving a well-detailed photo even in low light condition.
You wouldn’t be able to find a fingerprint sensor at the back and this is because it has been translated to an in-display fingerprint.
On top of the smartphone is where you will find the 3.5mm jack and the pop-up selfie camera. The USB port and the dual Nano SIM port (Not Hybrid) can be found under the device. You will not be able to find the MicroSD card slot because the smartphone does not support storage expansion.
The Redmi K20 Pro features a very huge Super AMOLED 6.39-inch display with a 2340 x 1080p resolution. The screen was able to produce bright and sharp colors and also supports HDR contents.
Redmi K20 Pro Camera
The Redmi K20 Pro arrives with a total number of four cameras, triple primary cameras, and one selfie camera. The triple primary camera sensors consist of a 48-Mega Pixel with an f/1.8 aperture. The second camera is an 8-MegaPixel telephoto camera with an f/2.4 aperture, and the third is an ultrawide 13-MegaPixel with an f/2.4 aperture.
The selfie camera is a single Motorized pop-up 20-MegaPixel camera sensor which offers a great shot. The camera supports HDR and can offer decent shots with details under natural light condition.
The 48-MegaPixel primary sensor takes amazing shots whether in a natural well-lighted environment or in low light conditions. It also comes in with features such as a Dual-LED flash, HDR, and panorama.
Performance
The Redmi K20 Pro features an impressive performance considering the price tag at which it comes with. It also comes with a simple and clean MIUI 10 which can be easily understood by someone moving from Android.
The MIUI 10 is based on the Android 9.0 (Pie) and also comes in with features such as Mi Drop, Cleaner, Deep Clean, Mi Remote, Dual Apps, Second Space, and Security Scan. There are other extras like apps associated with the Chinese market, just like BaiduMap, Mi Home, and their own App Store.
The K20 Pro ships in with a Snapdragon 855 chipset which ensures smooth performance. It also comes in with an Adreno 640 GPU which handles the graphics and gaming. Assisting the Snapdragon 855 chipset is an 8GB RAM.
Don’t get it twisted, the k20 Pro is made available in various versions. The base version is the K20 Pro with 64GB storage option with 6GB RAM, the second is 128GB storage option with 6GB RAM. The third is the 128GB, storage with 8 GB RAM, while the last model has a 256GB storage option and 8GB RAM. The new smartphone doe not support external storage option.
Redmi K20 Pro Battery
Under the hood, the Redmi K20 Pro uses a Non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery which keeps the smartphone running. The battery was able to offer us 27 hours and 34 minutes of video playback. With moderate use, the K20 Pro will be able to last for about 2 days from a single charge.
We were not able to find any wireless charging technology, but thankfully, the smartphone arrives with the Fast battery charging 27W (Quick Charge 4+). The 27W charger can offer you 100% battery juice under 1 hour.
