Vivo Nex Dual which is also known as the Vivo Nex 2 has finally been launched. The newly arrived smartphone ships in along with a dual screen display, powered by a 3500mAh capacity and lots of other amazing features that will be discussed in their respective section.
We are no longer surprised at the various methods that are being employed by Smartphone makers to avoid the presence of a notch. It all started with the pop-up selfie camera Smartphones, which was led by Oppo Find X & the Vivo Nex S.
The dual screen method of avoiding the notch later surfaced and was led by, Nubix X and Vivo who think this is the best option. The Vivo Nex Dual was announced and released in December 2018.
Design
The Vivo Nex Dual is all shady as it comes along with lots of eye-catchy spectacular specs, features, flawless body build, and appealing optical design. The selling point of this new device seems to be the dual screen
Vivo Nex Dual Display ships in with a dual screen which I think is aimed at different customers choice. This smartphone has 6.39-inches 1080p 19.5:9 Super AMOLED display. Remember that We mentioned that this device has a dual screen, so the secondary screen is a 5.49-inch 1080p 16:9 Super AMOLED display.
Unlike the Nubia X and Nex Dual that employed the use of mobile pop-up cameras in other to eliminate the notch. But Vivo Nex Dual approached the notch issues with a more exquisite method.

While the Nubia X second screen acts merely as a viewfinder, the Vivo Nex Dual second screen also doubles as your primary display screen. You can use the screen as either your primary screen or as a touch panel when playing games.
Don’t expect to see an in-display fingerprint sensor because Vivo was the first commercial smartphone company to bring in the on-screen fingerprint sensor feature.
Camera
The Vivo Dual Nex has a dual camera set up that is seated on the main screen. The smartphone comes with a 12-megapixel primary camera which has the assistance of a 2-megapixel secondary module. You will still see another third f/1.3 lens that is paired with a time of flight (TOF) 3D module.
The 3D module is not a new concept, but Vivo mentioned that the TOF 3D camera also comes with a secure facial recognition to unlock the rear display and a point-to-point distance measuring. It can also be used for personalized beautification. The 3D sensor is for taking better photos even in low-light conditions and also for depth sensing, and 3D face unlocks.

There is a ring that is around the camera module, it’s called “Lunar Ring,” and it has many LEDs around it. It is specially dedicated for selfies at night. That’s why when you use the camera to take shots at night you notice a ring flashlight, which gives it an alluring decorative, attractive and flashy design.
Performance
Just like the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, the Vivo Nex Dual also arrive with the same 10GB RAM. The Vivo Nex Dual uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset.
For your storage purposes, the smartphone sports a 128GB of internal storage. The Vivo Nex Dual does not support the use of an SD card to expand storage. So, you are stocked with the 128GB of internal storage.
The Vivo Nex Dual runs on Android 9.0 Pie coupled with the company’s Funtouch OS 4.5 skin on top. As for the RAM, the company promised dual-turbo management.
Battery
The Vivo Nex Dual houses a powerful 3,500mAh battery capacity, which we thought initially would be very poor for a smartphone with two screens. And though, Vivo UI doesn’t report screen-on time; I was usually ending my days with approximately 27% battery life.
The battery comes also supports 22.5W fast charging, and I think it’s an excellent effort to assist the battery life.
Other Features
- FM ~ No,
- 3.5mm Jack ~ Yes,
- Expandable storage ~ No.
- Triple Cameras ~ Yes.
Vivo Nex Dual Price
The Vivo Nex Dual ships in with lots of both eye-catching and unusual features, so don’t expect to get that too much budget friendly price. This new smartphone comes in with a moderate price tag.
The Vivo Nex Dual as of the time of writing is available for pre-order in China, and it’s sold for 4,998 yuan which is equivalent to $720. The smartphone is currently officially available, though there is no word on making the Nex Dual available internationally.
Verdict
The Vivo NEX Dual Display edition wasn’t what we hoped to see. Nevertheless, the company’s tactics of avoiding the notch was a clever one. There are other fun-to-be-with features that we loved. Like the dual screen gaming, mirror mode, and a host of them.
The camera concept was also a good one, but I would have to see a more improved camera from Vivo. In conclusion, the Vivo NEX Dual Display edition is a nice one.
