Here another mind-blowing and the latest smartphone from Xiaomi and it is called the Xiaomi Redmi 1S. This smartphone arrives with a nice display, a moderate internal storage that can still be expanded via microSD card.
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S was announced in May 2014, and it ships in with a host of other amazing specifications that will be revealed in this article. All you have to do is stay tuned while I take you all-around this smartphone.
Design
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S features a design that makes you mistake this smartphone for a mid-range device. It comes along with a long rectangular body, a glossy edge and a large bezel at the bottom and top.
The front of this device houses a 4.7-inch screen, and above the screen are the earpiece and a selfie camera. Meanwhile below the screen, you will find the three illuminated capacitive buttons and a notification light that is seated below the Home button.
On the top of this smartphone, you will see the 3.5mm jack (headset jack), and at the bottom are where the microphone and micro USB port are. At the right-hand side, you will find the power/lock button and volume rocker.
When you take a look at the back of this device you’ll see the primary camera accompanied by a LED flash, a speaker, another microphone, and the company’s logo.
This smartphone has a matte finish of the removable back cover provides a nice texture. The Redmi 1S features a body of plastic and sports a 4.7-inch IPS display made by Sharp. This device also has Dragontrail Glass for protection.
Camera
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S ships in with an 8-megapixel primary camera with LED flash. The primary camera is capable of producing quality images with a reasonable amount of colors and details. When taking photos indoors or in low light conditions, it is best you keep still to avoid your photos being a blur.
Apart from the flaw that I just mentioned, the camera produces good images. It comes with other great features like HDR, Filters, Panorama, and Manual control.
At the front of this device, you will find a 1.6-megapixel selfie camera, still, it is really great for taking selfies with it and making video calls and it is all thanks to its wide-angle lens.
Performance
The Redmi 1S is MIUI 5 based on Android 4.3 Jellybean which is upgradable to 4.4.4 (KitKat). The UI is clean and easy to use.
MIUI also arrives with the Lite Mode which is a simplified tile-based Home screen that uses large texts and icons so that it could be more appealing and friendly to users.
The Redmi 1S comes with the Google apps and Xiaomi’s tools. The device also arrives with an 8GB internal storage. But one good thing about the memory is that it can be expandable and up to 64GB via microSD cards, plus there’s USB OTG.
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S comes with a Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM, and Adreno 305 GPU.
Battery
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is Powered by a 2,000mAh battery and I think it is large enough for a phone of this configuration. The battery is cable of taking you through the whole day with a moderate use like WiFi browsing, calls, and text messages.
