This isn’t news anymore; Elon Musk has placed a limit on tweets users can view in a day. This does not faze me because I don’t use Twitter, but I can understand how people who solely use Twitter to source news and entertainment feel right now.
On Saturday, Elon Musk shared in a tweet saying, “Rate limits increasing soon to 8000 for verified, 800 for unverified & 400 for new unverified.” what this means is, as a twitter user who doesn’t have the blue tick, you can only view about 800 posts a day and for the newbies 400 posts per day.
This tweet came after his original post. His first tweet about the limited tweet views came in the early hours of Saturday and he wrote in that tweet saying, ” To address extreme level of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits: Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day – Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day – New unverified accounts to 300/day”.
It doesn’t end there; according to Telsa and SpaceX CEO, newly registered and unverified users will undergo stricter restrictions of 300 posts per day. All-in-all, if I wanted to join twitter, I picked the wrong time to do that.
This is not Twitter’s first technical setback and certainly won’t be the last. Still, Elon Musk has been able to provide unconventional solutions that have been devised to keep the situation together, and we know he’ll do it again if there’s a reason to.
