To keep its portfolio competitive, Vivo is constantly introducing new mid-range smartphones. After bringing a Vivo T1x 4G variant to India, the company launched the Vivo Y30 5G in Thailand. The new device is a low-cost 5G smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. Without further ado, let’s look at what the device offers in the competitive low-end segment.
The Dimensity 700 chipset powers the phone is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which can be expanded with virtual RAM (+2GB) and a microSD card (up to 1TB). The phone comes pre-installed with FuntouchOS 12 (based on Android 12). It has a 6.51″ IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1,600px. This is one of the few differences between it and the Y55 5G, which has a 6.58″ FHD+ display. In any case, this display includes an 8MP selfie camera that can be used for face ID. For secure unlocking, a side-mounted fingerprint reader is also available.

On the back, there’s a 50MP camera and a 2MP depth sensor (the Y55 5G also has a 2MP macro camera). The phone is available in two colors: Starlight Black and “Rainbow Fantasy” (an aqua/peach gradient). The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery that only supports 10W charging. At the very least, the box includes a charger, a USB-C cable, a protective case, and a screen protector.
The Vivo Y30 5G supports multiple 5G bands, including n1, n3, n28, n40, n41, and n78 (at least for the model in Thailand). It has a dual SIM card tray that can be replaced with a microSD card. Dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, major satellite positioning systems, and an FM radio receiver are among the additional wireless connectivity options (yes, a 3.5mm headphone jack is on the bottom).

In Thailand, the Vivo Y30 5G is already available. It costs THB 8,700 ($240/€230/19,000) from retailer AIS. You can also get one from True and dtac, two local carriers. We don’t know when or if the Y30 5G will be available in other markets, but Vivo has plenty of Dimensity 700 phones (including the Y55 5G mentioned above and the Y75 5G, which are almost the same).
