After Facebook purchased Whatsapp for a whooping sum of $19 billion, the company made a great change in the privacy of her users.
The new settings allows users to make privacy settings in who sees their statuses, profile photos and last seen.
This update is specifically for Android users, though has been there on IOS for a long time. I believe the update will reach other OSs soon.
This update is not yet available on your already downloaded whatsapp or the one on Playstore, rather, you have to download it directly from whatsapp website.
Follow the steps below to get the Whatsapp new Privacy settings update.
. Your Android OS Must be above Android 2.1
. Goto your phone settings and enable ‘Download from Unknown Sources‘ in the Security section.
. Now visit WhatsApp website and download the APK (application) file available under.
. After you’ve completed the download, tap on it. It will show two options – ‘Package Installer‘ and ‘Verify and Install’; choose ‘Package Installer‘ and continue
. You will get an alert saying that this application will make changes to WhatsApp; allow it to alter the app. All your WhatsApp data will be retained despite the changes. Ignore it and continue
. Now that WhatsApp has been updated, select Setting > Account > Privacy. You will see the ‘Last Seen‘ option here, with three options – Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. Select the one that suits you best.
This is quite a nice feature and thanks to the Whatsapp team for such a lovely development
NOTE: When you stop others from seeing your ‘Last Seen’ timestamp, you also will not be able to see theirs too.
