China Online Shops That Ship to Nigeria, and How to Buy

Shein and AliExpress take orders for Nigeria; GearBest, ChinaBrands and DX are gone. What each shop states on delivery, payment and refunds, plus customs.

AliExpress opens in naira with Nigeria already set as the delivery country, and Shein gives one delivery method for Nigeria with a price on it. Those are the two for one item or a handful. For stock to resell, Alibaba is the site built for the job. 1688 is Alibaba’s wholesale site in Chinese, and it needs someone in China to order for you.

AliExpress for small orders

Opened from Nigeria, AliExpress sets the destination to Nigeria and the currency to naira without being asked. Its home page promised free shipping on all Choice items once the order passed ₦14,845.91. Choice is a section of AliExpress with its own tab at the top of the site. For anything outside it, check the shipping fee and the delivery estimate on the product page before you add it to the cart.

Its Buyer Protection page promises a refund in two cases. The first is an item that never arrives, or is lost in transit, within the guaranteed delivery window shown in your order details. The second is an item that arrives damaged, short or not as described, if you claim within 15 days of receiving it. You start by contacting the seller, then file a refund request from the order page. Read the delivery window before you pay, because that date is what your protection hangs on.

Does Shein deliver to Nigeria?

Yes, by one method. Its shipping page gives express shipping in 7 to 11 business days, after 1 to 3 days of processing, for $24.90, free on orders over $129. Shein’s own exchange table had the dollar at about ₦1,328, which makes that roughly ₦33,000 for shipping and ₦171,000 for the free threshold.

On a $60 order, shipping adds 41.5 per cent. Shein only makes sense from Nigeria if you fill a basket, or split one with friends to cross $129.

Its payment page lists PayPal and credit or debit cards. The local options it describes are for other countries, and we found no pay on delivery for Nigeria.

Returns are allowed within 30 days of receipt for most items, but the only return method shown is self-return: you pay the courier yourself and Shein says it does not reimburse the cost. That means international postage out of your own pocket, so treat a Shein order to Nigeria as final. If a parcel does not arrive in the estimated time, Shein asks you to contact customer service within 90 days of the payment date.

Does Temu deliver to Nigeria?

Temu has a Nigerian storefront at temu.com/ng. Its listing on Google Play promises “Free shipping & returns within 90 days”, followed by the note that other conditions may apply. Its policy pages add the detail. An order can take one to three days to process, and when a parcel ships you get a message with its delivery time and a tracking number. The first return on an order is free within 90 days, as long as the item goes back in the condition it arrived in, and the delivery charge on the original order is not refunded.

Those are Temu’s general terms. Its payment page for Nigeria would not open for us, so look at which cards and methods checkout offers, and take a screenshot of the delivery estimate before you place the order.

Banggood and DHgate

Banggood is still trading, and Nigeria is in the “Ship to” list on its shipping guide. The methods and delivery times load for each product, so check them on the item you want. Banggood lists the countries where it accepts cash on delivery, and Nigeria is not one of them. We could not read its returns page.

DHgate has its app on Google Play, where it describes “escrow protection services” and “worldwide delivery on most products”. We could not open its website’s help pages, so we cannot confirm delivery to Nigeria or how you would pay. Look for the shipping line on the product page before you trust it with money.

GearBest, ChinaBrands and DX have closed

gearbest.com and chinabrands.com no longer lead to any website, and dx.com, the address of DealeXtreme, now shows an offer to lease the domain name. If you meet one of these names at a different address, treat it as a new business until it proves otherwise.

How to buy from Alibaba in Nigeria

Alibaba.com is a wholesale marketplace. You deal with a supplier, listings carry a minimum order, and you agree the price, quantity and delivery to Nigeria with that supplier and have them written into the order.

The protection is called Trade Assurance. Alibaba says it protects online orders when payment is made through Alibaba.com, by credit or debit card, PayPal, wire transfer and other methods. It covers two things you and the supplier write into the order: the product quality and the ship date. If either is not met, you can ask for a refund within 30 days of delivery, and Alibaba investigates and mediates.

Deal only with suppliers that carry the Trade Assurance symbol, and put the quality you expect and the ship date into the order in plain words. Alibaba says the order and your messages are what it judges a claim on. A supplier who asks you to pay outside the site, to a personal account or by a money transfer service, is asking you to give up the only protection you have.

How to buy from 1688 in Nigeria

1688.com is Alibaba’s business-to-business wholesale site, and the whole of it is in Chinese. Its menu now includes cross-border logistics services, but we found no list of countries and nothing that mentions Nigeria. The practical way in is a middleman. The same two also serve any shop that will not deliver to Nigeria, and goods too heavy for courier rates.

A procurement agent, also called a sourcing agent, buys for you inside China. You send links or describe the goods. The agent pays the seller, receives and checks the goods, and charges a commission. This is the usual route into 1688.

A freight forwarder gives you a warehouse address in China instead. You have your orders delivered there, and the forwarder combines them, ships them by air or by sea, clears them through Customs and hands them to you in Nigeria.

We have not vetted any agent or forwarder, so we are not naming one. With either:

  • Get the full cost in writing before anything ships: freight, clearing, delivery inside Nigeria, and what happens if goods are lost or seized.
  • Remember that a shop’s protection covers delivery to the address on the order. Once the parcel reaches the forwarder’s warehouse in China, the shop has done its part.
  • Start with a small order you can afford to lose.
  • Ask for photographs of the goods at the warehouse before they are shipped.

Paying from Nigeria

None of the shops whose payment pages we could read offers pay on delivery in Nigeria. You pay in advance, by card or PayPal on Shein and by card, PayPal or wire transfer on Alibaba. Before you load a cart, ask your bank whether your naira card is enabled for international payments and what the limit is. Pay only inside the shop’s own checkout, because every protection described above ends the moment you pay a seller directly.

Customs duty on goods from China

The Nigeria Customs Service announced in September 2025 that its board had approved a de minimis threshold of $300. Its press release says goods valued at $300 or less, brought in by express shipment or in a passenger’s baggage, are exempt from import duties and taxes, provided they are not prohibited or restricted items. The exemption is limited to four importations a year and took effect on 8 September 2025.

At Shein’s rate, $300 is about ₦398,000. The same release warns that anyone who manipulates an invoice to get under the threshold risks forfeiture and arrest. Do not ask a seller to write a lower value on the parcel.

Above the threshold, the Customs FAQ says duty is charged on the value of the goods, worked out from the invoice price, insurance and freight. There is no single rate: it depends on what the item is under the Customs Tariff. Value Added Tax and other levies may be added, and payment goes through a bank to the Customs Service.

For a large order, Customs offers an advance ruling: a binding decision on how your goods are classified and what rate applies, given before you import. It also publishes an import prohibition list on its website. Ask your courier, before the goods leave China, whether the $300 exemption applies to your parcel and who pays if it does not.

If the same item is sold in Nigeria, add up the landed cost first: price, shipping, any duty and the wait. A local order collected from a Jumia pickup station sometimes wins.
