Glo Infinito Tariff Plan in Nigeria: What to Use Now

Glo no longer lists Infinito. Its call plans now are Super Talk at 15.5k/sec plus ₦15 a day and TalkMasta at 30k/sec with free minutes back.

Infinito was Glo’s no-conditions prepaid plan: one flat rate to every network, and a cheaper rate to ten family and friends numbers. It dropped off the tariff page of Glo’s website in 2021 and has no page there today. The migration code people still look for, *100*9*1#, appears nowhere on the site.

Glo now lists two prepaid call plans, and voice bundles that work on either. The rates and codes here are the ones on Glo Nigeria’s own pages.

Glo tariff plans and migration codes

Plan Calls to any Nigerian network Per minute Extra cost Code
TalkMasta Reloaded 6 for 6 30k/sec ₦18, or ₦9 if every free minute is used None *606#
Super Talk 15.5k/sec ₦9.30 ₦15 access fee on the first call of the day *301#
Voice bundle, on either plan Minutes paid for in advance ₦9.26 to ₦10 The bundle, from ₦50 *555#

A text to any Nigerian network costs ₦6 on both plans. Changing plan is free the first time in a month and ₦100 after that.

What Infinito was

Glo’s own page for the plan, which the Internet Archive still holds, sold it as a prepaid plan with no rental and no conditions. You paid one rate from the first second of a call to the last, whichever network you rang.

When we first wrote about it in 2018 that rate was 22 kobo a second. By 2021 Glo’s page gave 26 kobo a second, which is ₦15.60 a minute. Calls to ten registered Glo numbers, the family and friends list, were 11 kobo a second, or ₦6.60 a minute. A text was ₦4.

To join, you dialled *100*9*1#. Glo’s page printed *100*9*2# in one place and *100*9*1# in its FAQ, which cannot have helped. Family and friends numbers were added with *101*1* followed by the number and #.

The Archive’s copies show Infinito still on Glo’s tariff page in the middle of August 2021 and gone from it by late September of that year. Glo’s current pages do not say what became of lines that were on the plan, and none of them gives *100*9*1# a use now, so do not count on the code. If your line has been on Infinito since those days, check which plan it is on today. The steps are near the end of this page.

Nothing Glo lists now has a family and friends rate. Jollific8, the new-SIM plan from the same years, left the tariff page at the same time, and we cover it in Glo Jollific8: what replaced it.

Super Talk: the flat rate now

Super Talk is the nearest thing to Infinito. It charges one rate to every Nigerian network: 15.5 kobo a second, which is ₦9.30 a minute. That is well under what Infinito charged in 2018 or in 2021.

The difference is an access fee of ₦15, before VAT, taken with the first call you make in a day. There is no fee on a day you make no calls, and receiving calls costs nothing.

Against Infinito’s last rate of ₦15.60 a minute, the fee is covered after roughly two and a half minutes of calls in a day. Ten minutes in a day costs ₦108 on Super Talk, which is ₦15 plus ₦93. It would have cost ₦156 on Infinito.

If there is not ₦15 on the line for the fee, calls still go through, at 22 kobo a second. Data without a bundle is ₦1.50 per MB, and the plan comes with no free minutes and no free data.

Nobody is put on Super Talk by default. Glo’s page gives *301# as the code to join. That is also Glo’s all-purpose menu, which has tariff plans among its options.

TalkMasta: free minutes back

TalkMasta Reloaded 6 for 6 charges 30 kobo a second, ₦18 a minute, with no daily fee. For every 6 minutes of calls you pay for, Glo gives 6 free minutes to any Nigerian network and 100MB of data. Both last 24 hours.

The six minutes can be one call or several added together, and Glo sets no limit on how often the bonus can be earned. Its announcement of the plan counts the six minutes within a day.

Six paid minutes cost ₦108. Use all six free minutes and you have talked for 12 minutes at ₦9 each, a little under Super Talk’s rate and with no fee. Use three and it is ₦12 a minute. Use none and you have paid ₦18 a minute, almost double Super Talk.

Glo says new SIMs start on TalkMasta. Existing customers dial *606# to join. Free minutes are used up before any voice bundle minutes, and unused bonuses are lost if you move to another plan. Data without a bundle is ₦3 per MB.

Voice bundles

A Glo voice bundle is a block of minutes for calls to any Nigerian network, bought with *555# on whichever plan you are on.

Price Minutes Per minute Valid for
₦50 5 ₦10.00 1 day
₦100 10 ₦10.00 3 days
₦200 20 ₦10.00 7 days
₦300 31 ₦9.68 7 days
₦500 52 ₦9.62 15 days
₦1,000 105 ₦9.52 15 days
₦1,500 160 ₦9.38 30 days
₦2,000 215 ₦9.30 30 days
₦2,500 270 ₦9.26 30 days

Glo also sells night bundles, for calls between 10pm and 5am, and weekend bundles for Saturday and Sunday. Each is ₦50 for 5 minutes or ₦100 for 11.

The minutes are for local calls only. Unused minutes roll over only if you buy the same bundle again before the current one expires or runs out. Dial *310*2# to see what is left.

Which one to pick

Here is what 10 minutes of calls a day costs over 30 days.

How you pay The sum Cost
Voice bundles ₦2,500 for 270 minutes, plus ₦300 for 31 in the last week ₦2,800
Super Talk 30 days at ₦15 plus ₦93 ₦3,240
TalkMasta, every free minute used 6 paid minutes a day at ₦18 ₦3,240
TalkMasta, no free minutes used 300 minutes at ₦18 ₦5,400

Super Talk and a well-used TalkMasta come out level at ten minutes a day. TalkMasta adds 100MB of data each time the bonus is earned, which Super Talk does not.

  • You call for a few minutes most days: Super Talk. It beats TalkMasta’s plain rate once you pass about a minute and three-quarters of calls in a day.
  • You make long calls every day: TalkMasta, as long as the free minutes get used inside their 24 hours.
  • You call rarely and briefly: TalkMasta. There is no fee, and a one-minute call costs ₦18 where Super Talk would take ₦24.30.
  • You want to know the cost in advance: a voice bundle. ₦1,500 covers 160 minutes for a month on either plan.
  • You stayed on Infinito for the family and friends rate: nothing on Glo’s list replaces it.

If you are weighing Glo against the other networks, Airtel’s flat plan, SmartTALK, is 25 kobo a second with no access fee, and MTN’s default plan, BetaGist, is 33 kobo a second. We go through them in the best Airtel tariff plan for calls and MTN’s tariff plans.

How to check your Glo tariff plan

Dial #100#. That is the code Glo’s TalkMasta page gives for seeing which plan a line is on. *310# shows your airtime and bonus balances, and *310*2# shows the minutes left in a voice bundle. For anything the codes do not answer, Glo customer care is on 300.
