Nokia has finally announced its latest most affordable Android One smartphone called the Nokia 2.2. The new smartphone was announced this June 2019 and will also be released this same month. In this article, we explore an in-depth review of the Nokia 2.2, looking at its specs, features, and price.
The new device happens to be the follow up of the Nokia 2.1 and it arrives with interesting features. According to HMD Global Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas the major upgrade of the Nokia 2.2 is the new integrated AI technology, Face unlocking, Google Lens and Google Assistant button and many more.
The company also promised to upgrade the Android versions for two years at least, while the security upgrades will last for up to three. Nokia also said that the smartphone is “Android Q ready”.

Design
Like we mentioned earlier, the Nokia 2.2 punches more than its weight and even the design reflects that. The new device features a rounded polycarbonate design and was almost achieving an all-screen display which limited by the dewdrop notch and the razor bezels.
The dewdrop notch houses the single selfie camera which doubles as Face Unlock biometric. The device’s screen is a 5.71 inches IPS LCD capacitive display with a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The screen has a 19:9 ratio with ~295 PPI density.

You will not find any fingerprint sensor on the smartphone but that has been compensated with the Face Unlock. The Face Unlock is the only biometric security that the smartphone offers.
The back of the new smartphone holds just the single primary camera sensor with the LED flash under the camera. You will also see ‘Nokia’ written and vertically positioned on the back panel.
On the left-hand side of the new device, you will find a dedicated Google Assistant button. Meanwhile, the volume rockers and power button are on the right side. The smartphone arrives with the 3.5mm jack, and also features just two color options the Steel, and Tungsten Black.
Nokia 2.2 Camera
Normally, there are lots of selling point the Nokia 2.2 features and luckily the camera is also part of it. The new smartphone arrives with just two cameras in all, single selfie and single primary camera.
The 5-MegaPixel selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture is seated in the waterdrop notch on the screen. The camera features few nifty “AI” features which also includes face unlock, liveliness detection, and more.
The single primary camera which is vertically positioned slightly above the middle is a 13-Megapixel sensor and an f/2.2 aperture. Beneath the primary camera, you will find the LED flash which assists in capturing clear images even in low light conditions.
Performance
The new smartphone powered by MediaTek MT6761 Helio A22 (12 nm) chipset assisted by the Quad-core processor which runs at 2.0 GHz (Cortex-A53). For gaming and graphics, you have the PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
As a product from HMD, the new smartphone runs with the Android One which is based on the Android 9.0 (Pie). The smartphone is sure of software updates for three years.

For all your multitasking purposes you have the choice of using either the 2GB RAM version which comes with an internal storage 16GB or the 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage.
If the internal storage is not enough for all your files, then you can further expand the storage by up to 400GB via microSD card.
Nokia 2.2 Battery
There is really nothing too special about the battery of the new smartphone. The battery is just a modest Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. You can charge the battery using the micro USB 2.0, USB On-The-Go.

You will be too greedy to be asking for either wireless charging or fast charging technology after considering all the special features the smartphone brings and at the low price tag it ships in with.

As mentioned earlier, the new device arrives in two different models with both bearing different price tag. The base model which happens to be the 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM variant is sold for INR 6,999 (€90/$100).

The biggest version is the 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM which is sold for INR 7,999 (€102/$115). The global version is sold for about €99/$112.
