Oppo A7 Review – Specs, Features and Price

Here comes the latest offering from Oppo and it is called the Oppo A7 a mid-range smartphone. The Oppo A7 doesn’t come with the so amazing kind of specs just like the OPPO F9. Don’t get it twisted the Oppo A7 is still a nice phone.

At first, I thought the Oppo A7 was a budget smartphone until a friend in Nepal told it is sold for Rs. 35,790 that should be around $310, which I think is inappropriate. The Oppo A7 was announced in November 2018. Without wasting much of your time, let’s see all that this smartphone has to offer.

Design

The Oppo A7 features a plastic body with a glossy finishing touch. At first, you will think that this device is made of glass, though it still has the same smooth feeling when you hold it in your hand. The glass-like look gives this device a premium look.

Oppo used a different design pattern on this smartphone. The back of this device has a 2.5D curved design. Still, at the end of this smartphone, you will find a dual camera sensor, a LED flashlight, Oppo’s logo, and a fingerprint sensor.

The left side of this smartphone houses the volume rocker, while the right houses the power button. This smartphone still comes in with a micro USB port. This device is available in three different color varieties, the Glazing Blue, Dazzling Gold, and Rose Pink.

The Oppo A7 features a 6.2 inches IPS LCD panel with an HD and a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. It comes in With a 19:9 aspect ratio and a 271 PPI pixel density.

Camera

There is a dual camera at the rear, a 13MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera quality is average because it depends heavily on light coupled with a narrow opening. You will be able to get a well-detailed shot in a good lighting condition, but in low light, the camera struggles to take clean pictures.

The front camera packs a 16MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture which seems to perform a lot better than the primary camera. The selfie camera gathers more light which results in a quality image. The camera also has OPPO’s Beauty Mode, which also enhances facial features for a beautiful selfie.

Performance

The Oppo A7 arrives with the Snapdragon 450 chip; this seems to be unfair considering the price tag of this device. The chipset is assisted by a 4GB RAM.

There is nothing new about the performance of the Snapdragon 450, it all went as expected. When multi-tasking this device it seems okay until to an extent and the apps running in the background don’t stay open for long.

The Oppo A7 uses the Colors OS 5.2 which is based on Android 8.1. The Oppo A7 comes in two versions the 32GB with 3GB RAM and the 64GB memory with 4GB RAM version. The mind can still be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD.

Battery

The Oppo A7 comes prepared with a 4,230mAh battery which can last you for several days. This smartphone was able to carry me for two straight days from a single charge.

The large battery and Oppo’s ColorOS is a perfect combination with the Oppo’s ColorOS doing the aggressive background work to limit power-intensive applications.

Other Features

    • 3.5mm Jack ~ Yes,
    • Expandable storage ~ Yes,
    • Colors ~ Glazing Blue, Dazzling Gold, Rose Pink.

Oppo A7 Price

The Oppo A7 arrives with a price tag of about 270 EUR/306 USD/111,500 Naira. You can buy this smartphone from some online stores or any authorized Oppo distributor near your region.

Verdict

The Oppo A7 is not all that bad if you ask me, at least it scores very high in battery life & design. Though it turns out to be poor in areas like the performance, camera, and software coupled with the series of lags that it produces. Overall I can score the Oppo A7 6/10.
