Samsung previously released the Galaxy A52 5G in March this year and it was regarded as one the best mid-range smartphones of 2021. The company then went ahead to release a newer version, Galaxy A52s 5G this September. Here is a review and full specifications of the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G.
What’s in the Box?
In the box, you get the Galaxy A52s 5G of course, a 25 Watts or 15 Watts charger depending on local market and a type C USB cord. That’s all, the Galaxy A52s 5G does not come with a case or earphones.
Display and Design
The design of the Galaxy A52s 5G is very identical to that of the A52 5G. The Galaxy A52s 5G has a plastic back end with chromium rails at the edge and a beautiful slim body profile. The back supports a rectangular protrusion at the top which houses the four rear cameras and flash.
The Galaxy A52s 5G comes in four colors, the awesome black, awesome white, awesome violet and awesome mint. Galaxy A52s 5G comes in 6.5 inch FHD with an 800 nits of brightness, a gorilla 5 screen and an ip67 water and dust resistance. The edge houses a two-sim tray.
For the resolution, the Galaxy A52s 5G has 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 20:9 ratio (405 ppi density). The brightness and contrast are quite expansive even though it does not have any HDR support. This is not really a hindrance because the display is absolutely clear and fluid for video streaming and gaming.

The Galaxy A52s 5G supports two refresh rates, 60Hz (standard) and 120Hz (high). When using either 60Hz or 120Hz, all the apps work at that Hz mode with the exception of apps that support any of the two. The 120Hz refresh rate is an upgrade from the 90Hz available on the previous model, the Galaxy A52 5G.
Software
The Galaxy A52s 5G runs the Samsung’s One UI 3.1, the same as the high end Samsung models. The interface come with all the usual apps and supports the knox security features. It uses the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G 50c Octacore (4×2.4 GHz kryo 670 + 4×1.9 GHz kryo 670) chipset with Adreno 642L graphics engine.
Camera
The Galaxy A52s 5G supports four rear cameras, a 64MP primary, 12MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro and a 5MP depth camera while the front camera is 32MP. The camera setup is similar to what is available on the Galaxy A52 5G. The Galaxy A52s 5G supports an auto HDR and an AI scene optimizer. Shots taken with the 64MP camera with the HDR and AI scene enhancement reveals good details and looks noticeably good in quality.
The Ultra-wide shots come out with a delicate softness and a different color rendition compared to the primary camera. The 5MP depth camera looks good in portrait shots and the 32MP selfie camera has a narrow and wide mode and produces selfies with solid quality. The picture quality from the Galaxy A52s 5G is identical to that of the Galaxy A52 5G.

Performance and Battery
The Galaxy A52s 5G uses the snapdragon 778G a much more powerful processor than that of its predecessor, Galaxy A52 5G which uses the snapdragon 750G. With the upgraded processor, navigating the interface happens smoothly and the device supports gaming with ease. The Galaxy A52s 5G is available in various memory configuration; 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, 8/256GB, subject to what is available in the local market. It also includes a microSD card slot.
The device supports a 4,500MAh battery capacity which lasts for about a day, exactly as obtainable with the Galaxy A52 5G. The Galaxy A52s 5G comes with a 25/15 Watts and a charging limit of 25 Watts which is really unimpressive.
Verdict
The Galaxy A52s 5G has really good specs for its price range, the camera has good quality and its performance is top notch too. However, there’s not much difference between the Galaxy A52s 5G and the Galaxy A52 5G expect for the upgrade in the processor chipset in the former. Overall it is worth every penny and is a smartphone that any user would enjoy.
