Large screens are now the trend these days in the smartphone world. Most smartphones including the LeEco Le Max 2, Samsung Galaxy A9 just a few to mention are examples. While smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and others have trended with display size around 5.2, Xiaomi decided to take things a little bit further by introducing their 6.44 inches display, the Xiaomi Mi Max.

The Xiaomi Mi Max was both announced and released in May 2016 and it comes with an affordable price-tag which will not compete with big price phones like the LeEco’s phablet but made claims to still offer you the same experience.

Design

Xiaomi Mi Max uses an aluminum body that gives this device a premium look. There are side tapers which makes this device easy to hold. On the back of this smartphone, you will find the fingerprint scanner, the primary camera, and dual LED flash.

There are plastic caps on the bottom and top of the Mi Max, they house necessary antennas. Below the front screen of this device, you will find three illuminated capacitive keys. Still, at the front of this device, you will find the secondary camera.

Xiaomi Mi Max uses an extra-large 6.44 inches screen and has a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. This smartphone uses the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. Also, on the right side of this device, you will see the power button, the volume rocker and the charging port under this device. Meanwhile, the 3.5mm jack is positioned on the top of this smartphone.

Camera

When you look at the back of the Xiaomi Mi Max you will find a 16-megapixel sensor that is capable of 4K video recording. While on the front of this device is where you get the 5-megapixel camera for a selfie and is capable of recording up to 720p video.

The primary camera comes along with a phase detection autofocus (PDAF) that performs well under proper light condition. The front-facing camera produces nice and detailed selfies under proper light conditions.

Videos recorded with this cameras are of good quality, even in low light condition. The camera also comes in with the slow-motion and time-lapse video modes. There are different shooting modes in the camera app, the Manual mode which lets you adjust focus, ISO, white balance and shutter speed.

Performance

The Xiaomi Mi Max uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, which helps make the Mi Max performance able to compete with other smartphones with higher-end chips. The Xiaomi added their MIUI, customized software and it operates smoothly on the Mi Max. This device also comes with a 3 GB RAM which is enough for either moderate or heavy multitasking.

When I used this device to play the Asphalt 8 game, I didn’t experience any lag or overheating and it is all thanks to the Adreno 510 GPU in this device.

The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with a dual SIM slot and one of the slots can be used as a microSD card expansion slot up to 256 GB. This device arrives in different storage configurations, the 16 GB with 2 GB RAM, the 32/64 GB with 3 GB RAM, the Prime model that has 128 GB internal storage with 4 GB RAM.

Battery

The Mi Max comes with a huge 4850mAh non-removable battery and even with your heaviest usage, the battery is sure to get you across the day.

The Xiaomi Mi Max supports the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, but the sad part is that Xiaomi did not include the Quick Charge 3.0 charger in the box. The Xiaomi Mi Max takes about four hours to get you a 100% battery charge with the Quick Charge 2.0. If you want to use the Quick Charge 3.0 charger, then you will have to purchase one.

Xiaomi Mi Max Price

The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with a $230 price tag which is equivalent to 83,600 Naira. If you want to purchase the Xiaomi Mi Max,  you can do that visiting some online stores or any authorized Xiaomi distributors within your geographical area.
