All Android Devices Scheduled To Receive Lollipop 5.0 Update

Whenever we hear about a new update for the Android operating system, there is usually a mixed set of reactions from several android users around the globe. The Android 5.0 Lollipop isn’t enjoying any peculiarity in this regard as most android smartphone users out there are eager to know if their devices would be updated to the latest Android OS.

A couple of android hardware manufacturers are already making it known to their subscribers that they would also receive the Android L update on most of their devices and that’s the reason I decided to put up this post on a complete list of android smartphones that are scheduled to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

HTC

I’ll start with this company as they were one of the first to release a statement about Android 5.0 on their devices. HTC has claimed that the update would be rolled out for their HTC One M7 and M8 smartphones within 90 days from the announcement of the Operating System. Here is what they had to say.

“HTC is excited about the new features in the Android L release and we can’t wait to share them with you. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible as part of our HTC Advantage program. We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices. HTC Advantage protects your smartphone investment, ensuring you have the best smartphone experience long after purchase.”

The HTC devices are therefore;

  • HTC One M7
  • HTC One M8

Motorola

Going through Motorola’s support page, you’ll notice a list of smartphones already available that would receive the update in future. The following products from Motorola would be receiving the Lollipop update soon.

  • Moto X (1st Gen.)
  • Moto X (2nd Gen.)
  • Moto G (1st Gen.)
  • Moto G (2nd Gen.)
  • Droid Ultra Droid Maxx
  • Droid Mini
  • Moto G With 4G LTE
  • Moto E

These are the smartphones so far from Motorola to receive the Android 5.0 update.

Sony

Sony made an announcement also on their blog stating that all Xperia Z series devices where definitely receiving the update as well. Here is a list of the Xperia line devices for Lollipop 5.0.

  • Xperia Z
  • Xperia ZL
  • Xperia ZR
  • Xperia Tablet Z
  • Xperia Z1
  • Xperia Z1S
  • Xperia Z Ultra
  • Xperia Z1 Compact
  • Xperia Z2
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet
  • Xperia Z3
  • Xperia Z3v
  • Xperia Z3 Compact
  • Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

The Sony updates are expected to start from early 2015.

Nexus

As you would expect, all Nexus devices coming up from now would have Android 5.0 preinstalled. While the previous Nexus devices (Nexus 4, 5, 7) are likely receiving their updates sometime later. Below are the Nexus devices coming with this OS.

  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 9

For now, these are the android smartphone brands that have made official announcement of their devices getting the Lollipop update. I would definitely update this post when I get more information regarding other big android smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, Gionee and many others.
