Reports are that Apple has purchased AI Music, which employs artificial intelligence to create custom music through personalized soundtracks and adaptive music. This technology might be applied across Apple’s audio services.
Custom soundtracks that alter in response to human input can be created using the technology. Many of Apple’s services might benefit from AI Music’s technology, such as Apple Fitness+, which could be modified to include songs that vary based on heart rate during a workout. Other Apple services, for example, games, can employ royalty-free audio and create audio that is tailored to the user’s context, such as mood.
The London-based firm was established in 2016. The company’s website is currently down, but its mission statement is available on its LinkedIn page. According to AI Music, the company’s purpose was to “give consumers the power to choose the music they want, seamlessly edited to fit their needs or create dynamic solutions that adapt to fit their audiences.” The company said it was “on a mission to redefine how we create, interact and experience music.”

Before its purchase, AI Music granted marketers, developers, and sonic adventurers access to its intelligent music library. The company had previously worked with ad agencies to produce more engaging ads that played changing music depending on who was watching.
The acquisition is one of the few made by the IT behemoth in the last year, Apple’s most recent acquisition, Primephonic, was also in the music industry. This year, Apple plans to integrate that startup’s classical music streaming service into an app related to Apple Music.
According to reports, Apple will release a new Apple Music app that will combine Primephonic’s user experience and specialties for classical music with Apple Music and features like Lossless and Spatial Audio. Presently, the app’s name has not been revealed; there are, however, rumors that the app could be dubbed “Apple Classical.” It may operate as a sub-section of Apple Music with its name.
