Phones of 30k in Nigeria and Their Prices (2026)
No new Android phone on Jumia Nigeria costs ₦30,000 or less. See the button phones 30k does buy, their prices, and how far away the first Android is.
We went through the phone listings on Jumia Nigeria, brand by brand. Every new phone of 30k or less was a button phone. The cheapest Android device was the itel it9320 at about ₦38,500, and the cheapest phone with a full touchscreen from a brand you would know was ₦77,500.
In 2018 this page had six Android phones on it. An Infinix Smart was ₦29,000 and a Tecno W2 was ₦22,950. A Jumia search for each of the six now returns nothing.
The exchange rate explains most of it. On the Central Bank’s own figures a dollar cost about ₦306 then and costs about ₦1,330 today. Phones are imported, so ₦30,000 has gone from about $98 of phone to about $23.
So this guide covers the button phones worth buying with 30k, and how far above it the first Android phones sit.
Phones under ₦30,000 on Jumia and their prices
These are the models we would look at, with the lowest price a seller was asking for each.

Search for the model by name, sort by price, then open the listing. Several listings had the itel it2165 at ₦9,390, and one of them says in its title that no charger is included.
Sorting Jumia’s whole button-phone category by price works less well. When we did it, the first five results were a charging cable and four bars of soap.
Sellers’ descriptions of the same phone do not always agree with each other, most of all on itel models. Where they differ we have used the figures most listings give. Check the box when the phone arrives.
Which one to pick
The one we would buy: Tecno T528
For ₦21,000 you get a 2.8-inch screen, a camera with a flash and Opera Mini for the odd web page. Some sellers have a newer version with a 3.0-inch screen and USB-C charging for a little more. Take that one if you see it, because the cable from a smartphone will fit.
If the phone is mostly for radio and music, the itel Music 500 has the same size of screen, a loud speaker and a 3,000mAh battery for ₦749 more.
The cheapest from a brand you know: itel it2165
It costs ₦9,390 and gives you a 1,000mAh battery, a torch and FM radio. The HMD 100 is ₦3,100 more with a smaller battery. What the HMD has in its favour is Jumia’s Official Store badge on the listing. Add another ₦2,300 and the HMD 101 has a 1,000mAh battery, an MP3 player and a memory card slot.
For battery life: Tecno T353
It has 3,000mAh and USB-C charging for ₦18,500, which is a lot of battery behind a two-inch screen. If ₦18,500 is a stretch, the itel it5606 has 2,500mAh for ₦15,400.
If you carry three lines: Tecno T354
Three SIM slots for ₦20,900. The itel it5627 also takes three SIMs and is listed with a 3.0-inch screen, at ₦26,699.
Brands you may not know
The cheapest phones on Jumia come from names such as MKTEL, Sunelan, Bontel and Lesia. A MKTEL M2023 was ₦6,918 with an 800mAh battery. A Sunelan S18 was ₦7,107 and is listed with 2,000mAh.
The interesting one is the Lesia L286 at ₦13,490. Its listing gives a 2.8-inch screen and a 3,000mAh battery. That is the T528’s screen and a bigger battery for ₦7,510 less.
We have no way to vouch for any of them. If you try one, use it hard in the first week, because Jumia’s product pages offer free returns within 7 days on eligible items.
A word on Nokia listings
Jumia has more than 1,400 listings under the Nokia name, and only a handful carry its Official Store badge. The rest come from other sellers, with prices such as ₦24,800 for a “Nokia 235 4G”. We could not confirm which of those are phones from HMD, the company behind today’s Nokia phones. The two HMD models in our table are listings with the badge, and their details match HMD’s own website.
One thing applies to every phone above: none is listed with WhatsApp.
The first Android phones above 30k
These were the lowest prices for new Android phones on Jumia when we checked.

The it9320 is about ₦8,500 past a 30k budget, and it is the only way to get WhatsApp anywhere near this money. Some units are locked to Airtel SIM cards, so read the listing. We go through it, and the phones around it, in Android phones of 50k in Nigeria.
After that the gap is wide. The MKTEL is from a brand we cannot vouch for. The itel A18 costs more than two and a half times the budget. Tecno and Infinix start at about ₦155,000, as we found in Tecno phones of 50k in Nigeria and Infinix phones of 50,000 naira.
If your present phone still works, 30k is better kept as the first part of a bigger budget than spent on a phone you will want to replace within a year.
A used phone for 30k
Jumia’s Renewed phones, its name for refurbished ones, start at ₦55,500, so they are out of reach too.
On Jiji, the used Android phones advertised at ₦30,000 or less when we looked were a Samsung Galaxy S3 at ₦20,000, a Galaxy S4 mini at ₦20,500 and a Galaxy S4 at ₦25,000. Those are very old phones. WhatsApp’s help centre says the app needs Android 6.0 or newer, so ask the seller for the Android version before you travel to see one.
We also saw a “Galaxy S24 Ultra” advertised at ₦25,000. A flagship at the price of a button phone is bait, and the right response is to keep scrolling.
If you do go to see a used phone:
- Check the Android version first, under Settings and About phone.
- Dial *#06# and compare the IMEI on the screen with the one on the box or receipt.
- Put in your own SIM and make a call in each direction. Try the loudspeaker and the charging port.
- Have the phone reset in front of you. If it comes back asking for another person’s Google account, leave it there.
- Open a plain white page and look for lines and dark patches on the screen.
- Pay a shop with a fixed address, and get a receipt.

None that is new. The cheapest Android device we found on Jumia was the itel it9320 at about ₦38,500.
What phone can 20k buy?
A good button phone. The Tecno T353 with a 3,000mAh battery is ₦18,500, the itel it5606 is ₦15,400 and the HMD 101 is ₦14,790.
Is there a Samsung phone of 30k?
No. The lowest price on a Samsung phone on Jumia was ₦129,000, for a Galaxy A06, and we found no Samsung button phones.
Which Tecno, Infinix or itel phone is 30k?
Tecno and itel have button phones under 30k, such as the Tecno T528 at ₦21,000 and the itel it5627 at ₦26,699. We found no Infinix button phones, and its cheapest phone is ₦154,999.
Can a 30k phone use WhatsApp?
Not a new one. None of the button phones here is listed with WhatsApp, and the cheapest phone that runs it, the itel it9320, is about ₦38,500.
