Tecno officially launched their tablet called the DroiPad 8II (Or Tecno Droipad 8D) Last week, in Kenya. The Tecno DroiPad 8II is the fourth tablet that Tecno has successively dished out in two years. My team and I have been going through this tablet over two weeks now and here is all you need to know about this device.

The Tecno DroiPad 8II actually became available in April 2016 and arrived with a host of exciting features that will be discussed in this review.

Design

One of the things that I was first attracted to was the design that the DroiPad 8II brings along with it. The body of this device is made of metal, which gives it that premium look.

The power button and the volume rocker are seated in their normal position at the right-hand. Meanwhile, on the left-hand side, you will find the two SIM card slots(Supports 4G LTE) and the MicroSD card slot. You will also see the charging port under this device.

Tecno DroiPad 8II comes equipped with an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 800 X 1280 Pixels. No special feature about the screen, but the good thing is that it both responsive, bright and great for gaming and watching your favorite movies.

My team and I didn’t notice any fault from the display of the Tecno DroiPad 8II all through the 16 days that we spent with the tablet.

Camera

Tecno DroiPad 8II arrives with a primary 5MP camera. We had expected to see something better than the 5MP, but it is okay with the price it comes with. The primary camera was actually clear and produces detailed photos when we took pictures with it. It also comes with a LED flash.

Tecno DroiPad 8II also comes along with a selfie camera, which is 2MP. The secondary camera also has a flash that will help to take clear selfies even at night.

Performance

Tecno DroiPad 8II AKA Tecno DroiPad 8D runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop Operating System and uses the 64-bit Quad Core MediaTek MT 8735P Processor.

With this kind of processor, you will be sure to experience a little lag from the DroiPad 8II when used. so you should expect some limitations and sluggish behaviors from time to time when you intensively engage this device.

The Tecno DroiPad 8II comes in with a 1 GB RAM and has an internal storage of 16 GB. The overall performance of this device was great, though it slows down most times, but its nothing to worry much about.

Battery

The Tecno DroiPad 8II is powered by a huge 5000 mAh battery that supports reverse charging. This simply means that you can use this tablet to charge or power up other devices. Should by any means, your smartphone’s battery get’s low, you can use this tablet as a power bank.

Tecno DroiPad 8II Price

The Tecno DroiPad 8II will be sold for $140 which is equivalent to 50,800 Naira only. This tablet can be purchased from most online stores or any authorized Tecno distributors around your region.

Verdict

Overall, the performance of the Tecno DroiPad 8II is good considering the price it is sold at. It offers a good entertainment experience at an affordable price. The Tecno DroiPad 8II may not be able to replace your smartphone, but if you feel like you want to use a tablet, then I think you should consider this device.
