Gaming Lap Desks for the Couch: Keyboard, Mouse, Laptop
The Couchmaster CYCON³, about €199, is the lap desk to get for a keyboard and mouse on the sofa. For a gaming laptop, LapGear starts near $42.
The lapboards from the big gaming brands have gone. Razer’s Turret, Corsair’s K63 lapboard and Roccat’s Sova were the heart of this list when it was written in 2020, and none of them is on its maker’s site as something you can buy now. We went through the makers’ own pages to see what is left.
Two kinds of lap desk remain. One is a wide board on cushions that carries your own keyboard and mouse, and a German company called nerdytec is the only maker we found still building those for gaming. The other is the ordinary cushioned lap desk for a laptop, which LapGear sells for a fraction of the price.
We have not handled any of these. The sizes and weights below are the makers’ own figures, and the notes on what fits are arithmetic from those figures.

For a keyboard and mouse
Couchmaster CYCON³, about €199
This is the current version of the Couchmaster CYCON from the old list. Two foam cushions sit either side of you and a plastic board lies across them, so the board rests on the cushions and not on your legs. nerdytec says the board is not fixed to the cushions, which lets you set them to your own width. The gap between them can be up to 75 cm.
The board is 82 cm by 33 cm. A full-size keyboard such as Logitech’s G915 X is 47.5 cm long, which leaves 34.5 cm, and the mouse pad in the box is 30 cm wide. So a full keyboard and a mouse fit side by side.
A USB hub is built in, with five USB 3.0 ports and one USB-C charging port. A single cable runs from the board to the PC or console, and a 5 m extension comes in the box, which sets how far the sofa can be from the machine. nerdytec names PCs, Macs, the PS4 and PS5, the Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles and smart TVs as compatible. There is LED lighting in the board as well, worked from a touch panel.
nerdytec lists the weight as 6.7 kg, so this is furniture that lives beside the sofa. It costs €199 on nerdytec’s store, marked down from €219, and a grey version is €209. Pick it if you play at a TV with your own keyboard and mouse and want the hub. Skip it if you only game on a laptop, because the cheaper desks further down do that job. Couchmaster CYCON³ on Amazon
Couchmaster Lapboard³, about €179
The same size of board with the same USB hub, sold without the cushions. nerdytec describes it as a desk for an armchair and says it can also sit on an ordinary desk. It lists palm rests and cable channels among the features, and the mouse pad in the box is 30 cm by 23 cm. The price is €179, marked down from €199.
With no cushions, the board has to rest on something, which in practice means the arms of the chair. On a sofa you need the cushions, and the CYCON³ is only €20 more. Couchmaster Lapboard³ on Amazon
For a gaming laptop
Couchmaster CYBOSS, about €189
The widest board on this page: 95 cm by 39 cm of bamboo on two cushions. nerdytec lists a central ventilation grille, wrist rests, a cup holder, a tablet holder and a mouse pocket, and says it suits left-handed and right-handed players. There is no USB hub in the box. The listed weight is 7.6 kg.
Pick it if you want the most room. The board is wide enough for a large laptop with the 30 cm mouse pad beside it. It would also take a full-size keyboard and a mouse, if you can live without the hub. Couchmaster CYBOSS on Amazon
Couchmaster CYBOT, about €159
A smaller bamboo board, 75 cm by 33 cm, built the same way. nerdytec says it takes notebooks up to 17 inches and lists a large ventilation grille, wrist rests, side pockets and a tablet holder. Like the CYBOSS, it comes without a USB hub.
It saves €30 on the CYBOSS and suits a laptop with a mouse. Skip it for a separate keyboard: 75 cm less a 47.5 cm keyboard leaves 27.5 cm, which is narrower than the 30 cm mouse pad it comes with. A tenkeyless keyboard such as Logitech’s Pro X TKL, at 35 cm, would fit. Couchmaster CYBOT on Amazon
LapGear Bamboo Lap Desk, about $50
LapGear’s site no longer lists the BamBoard Pro from the old list. The bamboo model it sells now is a plain board on a cushion: 22.4 by 15.4 inches, 3.4 lb, with a carrying handle. LapGear says it fits laptops up to 17.3 inches and has room for a mouse as well.
Treat the mouse part with care at the top size. A 17.3-inch widescreen display is about 15 inches across before you count the edges of the laptop, which leaves 7 inches of board at most. With a 15.6-inch laptop you get nearer 9. It is still the cheapest desk here that LapGear rates for a 17-inch machine. LapGear Bamboo Lap Desk on Amazon
LapGear Home Office Pro, about $42
LapGear sells this for working from home, and nothing in its description mentions games. It is here because it is the cheapest desk on the page with a mouse pad and a wrist rest built in. The surface is 21.1 by 14.1 inches, it weighs 2.8 lb and LapGear says it fits most 15.6-inch laptops. There is a phone slot too. LapGear’s store has it at about $42, down from $50.
Skip it for a 17-inch laptop. For that size LapGear has the XL Elevation Pro at about $60, a 23 by 13 inch desk with a foam wrist rest and a cushion that folds out to tilt the surface. LapGear Home Office Pro on Amazon
What happened to the lapboards
- Razer Turret. A wireless keyboard with a slide-out mouse surface and its own mouse, made for the Xbox One and Windows 10 and launched at $249.99. Razer’s page for it now returns “not found”, and no lapboard appears in Razer’s keyboard range.
- Corsair K63 Wireless Gaming Lapboard. A cushioned tray with a wrist rest and a mouse pad that the K63 Wireless keyboard snapped into. Corsair’s own pages mark the lapboard, the keyboard and the bundle of the two as discontinued.
- Roccat Sova. Roccat’s website now forwards to Turtle Beach, and a search there for Sova finds nothing.
- Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550. It survives only on Logitech’s support site, in a section named “Other – Lapdesks”. Logitech’s shop has no lap desk category.
We found nothing in Razer’s or Corsair’s current keyboard ranges that takes their place. The nearest thing now is a Couchmaster board with whatever wireless keyboard and mouse you already own.
Which to pick
- Keyboard and mouse at the TV: the Couchmaster CYCON³. It is the only cushioned board here with a USB hub, and it takes a full-size keyboard.
- The same, in an armchair: the Lapboard³.
- Large gaming laptop: the CYBOSS if the budget allows. If not, the LapGear Bamboo Lap Desk costs about a quarter as much.
- 15.6-inch laptop on a tight budget: the LapGear Home Office Pro.
A caution on the Couchmaster boards. nerdytec’s prices leave out shipping, and it warns that import taxes may be added outside the EU. Its shop is set up to ship to the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and most of Europe. India and Nigeria are not on its shipping list, so look for a local seller or an Amazon listing before you plan around one.
